From our company Saftey Newsletter:

Rookie: "Tell me, Oldtimer, where'd you get all your good judgement?"

Old Timer: "Experience!"

R: "Where'd you get all your experience?"

OT: "From using BAD JUDGEMENT!"

cute, but oh so true.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Heh, I had good relatives, good dad, good grandfathers...taught me 'its okay to make mistakes, its NOT okay to fail to learn from them'...if you did everything perfect the first time, would you learn?  Doubt it.  I did wait till I married at an older age, thats the only thing I did perfect the first time, marry my wife.  Feel sorry for the rest of you poor saps!

Reminds me of a friend in H.S. who had no fewer than 22 speeding tickets by age 18. His license was finally suspended (nowadays, its suspended faster!)...he drove anyway, bragged about his speed tickets.  Died in a high speed collision into a tree trying to negoiate a curve.  Darwins theory applies I believe.  Gotta learn from your mistakes, and make adjustments...)

Rip do we know each other    I too had many a speeding tickets when I was a teen.  DIdn't lose my license and I don't know how, but if I would have had the same amount of tickets I did then nowadays I wouldn't be driving for quite sometime.  Granted I still speed I pick my spots and when I break the sound barrier it is usually alone on the way to work.

Proud to say I haven't had a ticket in 4 years, and no accidents in 8.  We do learn from our mistakes I do agree, which is why I got rid of the very fast toys and settles for 4 wheeled fast toys.  In order to progress we do need a certain learning curve, something to facilitate our mind into what the possiblities are.  If it seems like it is gonna hurt, well you know the routine.

Kind of on the subject…

I learned from my mistakes.  Twice the fine and 100 bucks to a man in a suit will magically transform that speeding ticket into a “parking more then 6 inches from the curb”

Needless to say, haven’t had a speeding ticket in a long time, hehe.
