Theres a BIG difference between stall speed and taxi speed, and a B-17 cant bleed that kind of speed in 20 feet without the dreaded "ground loop" effect. Just because YOU believe its true, doesnt mean it is. Like the time I was getting ready for a secret raid into Nam and got bit by a spider.................

When the b24 "The Dragons Tail" and the b17 "Nine O' Nine" came to Hartford, I had the chance of the 2 bombers flying tree top just barely above the trees and in arms distance of me touching them as they buzzed the building I was in. The building shook violently ast hey buzzed it. Was quite a sight to see.

Well, it can land it 30-35 feet of runway, with a 100MPH tailwind. I was a B17 pilot in WW2. I decided it was too dangerous so I switched to flying P47s, the war was soon over after then. I died a month later from an infection cause by falty wiring in my Thunderbolt. I was reincarnated as part of the "baby boom" generation in which i was to fight in Vietnam. Apparently I was always supposed to be a pilot, so I flew F4 Phantoms into Hai Phong during 'Nam. After many scary missions I was sent home to a bunch of hippie's yelling at me. I got my B.A.R. (borrowed from Bonnie of 'Bonnie and Clyde' fame) and took some of those reefer smoking a-holes OUT! Blood was everywhere. I was charged with the death penalty. After a few years on hold I was once again reborn in 1989 and here I am today.

In short, my B17 could land in 10 feet of runway on a good day.
