Hurri Up! [FILM]
« on: January 10, 2006, 12:56:06 AM »
I filmed this flight the other day: eleven kills in a Hurricane IIC in about fifteen minutes while defending a base against a CV attack.  Granted, the opponents weren't the greatest, and the numbers tilted to my side rather early, but I think the film provides a good venue for the pure lethality and capability of the Hurri IIC as a base defender.

Here it is.  Enjoy!  As always, questions and comments are welcome.

That was a lot of fun.  I'm going to save this film and try to figure out where I went wrong, considering I made up almost half your kills.  Nice flying.

Thanks, Rob.  That's the kind of attitude that will serve you very well in Aces High.  I can't recommend enough studying films to see where you did something wrong or where someone else did something right.  I hope you find the film informative and useful.

Good film Todd! I loved that first kill :t

What always stands out to me in your film is the gunnery (man, how do you make those snapshots??).  Great example of shooting short bursts right on target. Also note how you doubled back for altitude halfway into it - gives you some speed to wirk with.

Gotta love the Hurri, even if its the 2C :).

robjw: Best defense against a Hurri is speed. Dont get low and slow with it unless you got a *very* good turner. Stay out of its gunrange as much as you can, especially with Levi in it.

"Only" 8 gun kills, and 2 or 3 assists. Couple of augers, but some pretty nice shots. Who doesn't love a nice 1pinger on the canopy?  Sick.

Leviathn,

Great stuff, your gunnery skills are unreal. I fear I have much to learn. Thanks for sharing.

The TBM was hilarious. He was shooting from about 2k out, all the way till the time you killed him & all the way to the ground I think.

I think that was robjw in the TBM.  To his credit, he's come here with an eye toward learning how to get better.  How many in his position would just have gotten frustrated and left the game forever?

Wasn't me in the TBM, I was in a F4u the whole fight.  Well, several f4u's.  The wings kept falling off for some reason.

Yeah, they have that habit when Leviathn is around. Not only on your plane :). Gotta talk to the mechanic about that...... :)
