commanding general

if anyone plays battlefield 2 they would grasp this. ok heres the deal, somebody can opt to be the commander who has the ability to send a "spy" to infiltrate any enemy air field and watch what is going on.  he can call in artillary barrages and redirect supplies (as was stated in another topic). so we dont have some n00b hogging the commander spot for all day the position for a hour and then the person would'nt be general anymore and another person could command. they could also order squadrons to attack, repair, defend, ect. the squadrons would be organized ones like the Sick Puppies (uhh is that an AH squadron?) or they could be temporary ones that players in game create.

This would make the HQ a more strategic target.

maybe there could be a chain of command and have lower "rank" officers  that have their own abilities but they arent as powerful( artillary, but he does not have clearance for more than 20 rounds...ect.)

Can anyone share their thoughts on this? maybe add some general abilities that I forgot?

I'm not even going to touch the flame-a-thon that I kinda want to write... So I'll be really nice and just say this...

In 10 years of online gaming I have learned one absolute fact..

When you place YOUR fun in the hands of someone else (especially an armchair general) it stops being fun.

Game your own game, find a squad that operates the way you like to game and that is all the organization there should ever be.

Besides, we have Friday Night Squad ops once a week to remind you why you hate being commanded by some incompetent boob you've never met.. :noid

Seriously though, if you're in a squad, try out Friday Squad Ops... Its a lot of fun and it is a situation where there is a command and control in effect.  I would never want that in the Main arena though.
