Foolproof access to AH2 Game Rules
« on: January 11, 2006, 07:35:22 AM »
Below is the page that is displayed when a new player clicks on the many links that are titled "Get started now"
I think it would be appropriate that all Game Play Rules and guide lines were linked or displayed directly on this page.
On the bottom line where it says.
"All you need to get started is download the game, create your account (it is free), and you are ready to go! Following the menu at the left will give you all the details you need, and you can always visit our extensive help documentation."
I think it would be very helpful and effective to place a link here that reads something like this. All you need to get started is download the game, read the game play rules, and create your account (it is free), and you are ready to go! with the word rules being hyperlinked to a rules page.

Getting Started in Aces High II
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Get ready for the ride of your life! We hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoy bringing it to you.
The menu on the left is a step-by-step guide to getting you up and ready to experience the Internet's premier WWII flight simulator.

We are so confident in our product and service, we do not ask for any credit or debit card to get you going. You have nothing to lose, except maybe a ton of fun! The first two weeks in our massive online arenas is free (one per customer), and the game will ask you at the end of the two weeks if you would like to subscribe.

The subscription is a monthly recurring charge of $14.95 U.S. for all the play time you want. Of course, you can play for free in the H2H (head-to-head) rooms or over your local arena network (H2H and LAN play are restricted to 8 players maximum per room).

All you need to get started is download the game, create your account (it is free), and you are ready to go! Following the menu at the left will give you all the details you need, and you can always visit our extensive help documentation.

Well AFAIK theres no 'official' rules in the MA besides respecting each other (more or less) and a no-go for foul language.

But id certainly appreciate it regarding the TA rules. Many a newbie think they are there for a good laugh and then to be ignored.

I don't think there are any rules, except in Special Events, the Training Arena, etc.

Maybe this is why so many don’t realize that the MA isn’t a place to expand their internet chat room and engage in abusive interaction? The list would be short. But im sure the community could benifit. Example: I remember reading something like this (friendly banter is ok...but the moment it becomes personal or abusive....ect.)
OK...let me revise my request....
Make a set of straightforward rules and place them in said location.

Well, I agree , it would be beneficial to the AH communiy as we know it.
and as far as your Mafia page, I liked the click to accept or / deny these rules/regulations/requiremnets

in order to make a more enjoyable community to be had by all, one must first lay the ground work, this is where HTC should step up to the plate and offer something as simple & easy as requested here.

It goes for in-game as well as use of the BBS boards.....

now with that said, you will always have the select few who disobey any and all rules and want to create chaos for the rest of the community, these people should be dealt with swiftly and without no remorse or consequence..

good idea Mugzee, is my view anyway.....
"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

Thanks TC..the idea behind the C.O.C on mafia sign up, is to make dern sure that those signing up are sure of what they are getting into. We have fun...we have rules. We wrote the Mafia C.O.C to support Aces High MA behavior guidelines and be a part of the solution. Any new recruits understand what we are about and know it long before they/we sign the dotted line. This assures less turnover too.:)
PS..we do enforce or C.O.C.  Are we angels? no.
Everyone has a bad moment...even a bad day.
But an entire week of it, and it has to be addressed.
In fact: My enforcement of this caused a rift in Mafia ranks quite a while back and we lost about 8 or 10 mobsters over night :(
It was sad...and ugly.
But in the Big picture... It has worked out very well indeed. :)

One note as an aside:

We on the BBS should realize that nothing is "fool" proof. Fools are terribly inventive at being thick.
Maturity is knowing that I've been an idiot in the past.
Wisdom is realizing I will be an idiot in the future.
Common sense is trying to not be an idiot right now
