the McD's coffee issue was based on the coffee being at 210 degrees F. that is mighty close to boiling. there was no need for coffee to be that hot. The plaintiff in that lawsuit suffered third degree burns to her outer labia. I don't believe that was a frivolous lawsuit.
McDonald's lost this case because they acted like complete *******S in court. They literally said that they make millions of dollars a day MORE because they keep their coffee extra hot, that they did not care about frivolous lawsuits that were for trivial amounts.
McDonalds literally did pay off this lady from the profits of a SINGLE DAY'S WORTH OF EXTRA HOT COFFEE.
This woman would have definately lost if McD's had taken the case seriously and portrayed this woman as an idiot for doing what she did.
But they didn't.
