It allways cracks me up when some young strong guy who is too dumb to realize that he could go down in a heartbeat himself.... thinks that everyone else will play by his rules for one.... and for another.... thinks that his options are the same as the weak... the infirm.. the old and the female.

You aren't protecting em... your criminals are running wild on your weak and you aren't doing anything but getting blotto lying around in some bar while it is happening.

You wouldn't last 2 minutes here in the situation xmarine finds himself... Hopefully you would figure that out and move away to some place in America (and there are plenty) where they have lilly white bars for you to hang out in and the most threatening thing will be some guy even more drunk than you are.... until you get older or infirm of course... then you can just pray no one hurts you I guess.

This may sound harsh but.... xmarines situation isn't some pub playtime for swaggering aussie bully boys... It's the real deal with gangbangers who often have killing a white guy as part of their initiation (they would love you to offer your sunburned neck)...

You simply have nothing of any importance to add here. You don't know anything about it here and it would appear... that you can't see past the strength of your own arm there... It would appear that you only care about swaggering in a bar and don't give a whit about your fellow aussies who have to deal with life in a more realistic manner.

would you consider that X-marine's actions are more, or less foolhardy than mine? he is starting a war with someone who doesnt care if they go to prison, and probably has nothing to lose anyhow.



now.....had guns been an issue in my scenario, i would have reacted instantly and without bravado. a knife or a drunk idiot are easy to fight off, a gun, near impossible.

i calculated the risk he posed to me, and came out on top.

I aint saying im tough, im not, i hate fighting and violence. the 'reflexes' comment ws a little tougne in cheek. but still, i have delt with people with knives, and drunk idiots, and i am confident (in my local area) of being able to look after myself.


your point that in America i would get killed is exactly my point.


your point that xmarine's situation is 100 times more serious, is my point too.


I act in the way i do when mugged, because of where i live. its all relative. In another country, or even in a place i dont know in the UK, my imediate response would be to protect any weaker friends who are with me, and/or run the hell away very fast.

I take exception to your claim that Xmarine made it anything!

IMHO Xmarine did nothing that I would not have done.  Furthermore there was a time when anyone doing what was done to Xmarine would have been in some REAL trouble.

The GangBanger types PUSHED it to the point of violence.  They went too far not Xmarine.  they are the one preforming illegal actions and seem willing to resort to violence to maintain their POWER.

I think that is where we differ in our viewpoint.... perhaps.

batfink...  I am sorry to have bruised your ego... just pretend I was talking to every young guy who thinks that no one else needs a firearm for protection because they themselves can easily take on 3 or 4 gang members all armed with knives..

I am not at all off the mark.  In your pub example the same thing happens here all the time... some of the guys may even be armed but... most places know you drunks shouldn't have guns so it is a requirement to not bring firearms into the bar..  they are in the cars tho and some of the guys ignore the rules.   does this mean that there is a shoot out every day?

Of course not.... armed people are polite people.   Maybe if more people were armed in your country you wouldn't need to be such a tough guy constantly fending off drunks and knife weilding muggers?

still... that brings back my point... once you age or cripple up a little.... how will you do in situations like all the ones you have gotten into so far?

In the U.S.  most of the bad guys use hands, feet and clubs and knives...  Iam not sure that you could fend off three guys here armed like that.  I don't think your lilly white butt has really seen our welfare food fed ghetto dwellers yet.   In fact... old and crippled up as I am.... I am willing to bet that me and two other old men could stomp you to death if we wanted too...  and that is with you in your prime...

again... the real reason for my disgust with you was generic... the disgust of young overconfident youth mouthing off on things they know nothing about.

I was a biker when younger and I boxed for a couple of years.   I have been stomped pretty good by multiple opponents and might have died or been crippled if someone hadn't have stopped it...  people die from fistfights all the time.

and... you were attacked by knives... the survival rate for being stabbed is.... 80%... the survival rate for surviveing being shot by a handgun is.... 80%

soooo... study on.

I think you made your point clear now. I just didn`t understand it till you put in the big, giant letters. My grandaughter writes real big like that in her coloring book when she is having a tantrum also. I think it will be quite clear to everyone now....................well maybe with you as an exception.
