No idea, wife got it. I did however trade it at BB for the box set of Akira Kurosawa movies. I think I won that deal.

Maybe its the contrast, but I LOVE the 52. With the 45 the spring was stiff and would kick in just a few degrees off center...so with fine movements I'd have nothing, nothing, KICK to the side. The 52 is silky smooth. I've noticed no problems with the throw at all.

My hit% and KPD have jumped significantly, and I really believe the 45 was holding me back.

I expect though that it will start to fade in 8-12 months, and my next purchase will be a CH.

So that guarantee is worth something?
So if my X45 breaks, they will give me a X52 as a replacement?

If so, oops...I think one of my buttons just quit working...hello X52.

I hate the X45 because the spring is just too damn stiff.  I've tried binding it up with zip cable ties but they move around and the tension is never the same once the spring rotates and the ties move.

My old MS Percision Pro crapped out and I went to Best Buy and got a X45.  Seemed ok at the store but the one out of the box seemed to have a spring from hell.  Sometime past the 90 day return policy (go figure) I'm in Best Buy and guess what...no more X45's, they only have the X52.  ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!  It felt so smooth and I wanted one but it was past 90 days!

I like the X52 overall, but for the longest time I wasn't sure.  Many times I went back to my Thrusmaster Top Gun, (which is also a VERY reliable cheap stick BTW) mainly because the throw was a lot smaller, which made me a lot better in fighters.  I still don't do very well in fighters with the X52, but I'm still trying to get back to where I was before.  The main problem I have now is keeping the stick base free of dust, as I live in the middle of a bunch of onion & sugar beet fields.  I'm having to use rubbing alcohol on tissue paper, which seems to work for a while.

This really helped me with that:

Go to the Joysticks settings in AH...the one that has all the sliders.

Set all the sliders to maximum..all the way to the top.  Do this for roll and for pitch.

It stopped all that jumping around for me and gave me almost total control.  My gunnery improved dramatically afterwards.

Well I got the "advice" from a thread by a really good "stick" and in absolute frustration I tried it.  It really worked well for me...let me know if it helps you.

I was recently advised to do the following when I asked why my ranges seem restricted

Quote
Unplug the controller, click Start>Run, type regedit and click OK. In the Registry Editor browse to the following folders in order:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
MediaProperties
PrivateProperties
DirectInput

And delete the VID_06A3&PID_0255 folder. Plug the controller back in, rotate and twist the stick fully a couple of times and see if that has fixed it.

and it did....it certainly improved stuff generally.

after which i have also reset the sliders for pitch and roll to 100%.
