Hi there. Been flying for a week and you guys have a great game here! Question about my RAM usage. In the info section that displays frame rate and ram usage, my frame rate is in the 50's but my video mem usage is about maxed out (128M 6600GT) and system RAM is about half of my 1 gig. Is this normal? What do you recommend for video settings? I've seen some screenshots posted here where their RAM usage was no where near mine. Thanks!

If your video memory is filling up, then you need to turn down somethings. Full video ram will have an adverse effect on the overall performance of the game.

1) Do not preload textures into video ram.
2) Set the maximum texture size down one notch at a time, until you have some free video ram.
3) If you only have 512MB of ram, you need to do one of two things.
3a) Either set the meaximum texure size to 256 or
3b) Disable skins in the game.

Thanks for replying!

1) Textures are not preloaded
2) I have that set to 512. I set it to 256 and it actually used more video ram...ram went from nearly full to all the way full.
3) I have 1 GB of system ram and the game says its using around half of that.

I'm not complaining about game performance. I'm coming here from WWII Online so I am QUITE hapy with the flying performace here. I was just wondering if my settings are optimal and if I should adjust them. Like I said, the only reason it even came up is because I've seen screenshots of other games where they're using 60-75MB video ram.

Are you running with any anti-aliasing enabled? It will consume your video ram pretty quickly.

Try preloading the textures to system ram.

Do you have both the 'optimizations' enabled in the game?

The anti-aliasing setting is in my card only, right? Does AH have an AA setting? I had it set on set to 8xS (I like the eye candy as long as it doesn't kill the performance much). What's the "S" in 8xS? I Turned it down to 4x. Also, the anisotropic filtering is off. Should it be on or off?

I selected preload textures to system ram. Should I expect anything from that?

I DO have both optimizations enabled.

8X AA is using all ur video memory. With a 6600GT i would prolly run it at 2x max. The 6600's dont do AA without a performance hit . 38

I played tonight with the AA set to 4x and the vid mem was about 80MB and fps hovered around 60 to 75 at 1280X1024...and it still looked pretty too. I think I'll live with that.

Yep, AA will use up video ram very quickly. Leave AF off for Aces High II as it will blur the text in the comm boxes if you enable it.
