I'm sure this will come as a suprise to you MT, but the 2nd is a litmus test for me and many Americans.

Another litmus test is Supreme Court appointments. Feinstein says she will vote against Alito. She opposed Roberts. I weigh that opposition a bit more heavily against her than her support for a "flag amendement".

It's nice that she supports NASA but her record on gun control and the SC indicates how she views the relationship between the government and the governed. That area is the one I watch. She totally flunks out.

Sheehan doesn't have it. I wouldn't bet on a Republican unseating Feinstein or Boxer with or without Sheehan's interference.

well when you got the commies voting for sheehan, and the regular lib hippies voting for feinstein. that leaves the center of the Party shocked, and they will vote for someone else

Whatever.

I proved she was much more of a centrist thana lib. I didn't even mention that it was Feinstein who authored a censure of Clinton after his aquittal. Your litmus test is not one that defines liberal to the general populace. She is a centrist, I'm right you are wrong... but you'll get over it someday.

Anyone who favors the government over the governed is no centrist.

You'll realize that someday and you'll know I was right. The pain won't last long and you'll get over it.

For some reason I like Feinstein, she should stay.  But I hate Boxer and I'd love to see her voted out.

By and large, Californians seem quite happy to let Feinstein and Boxer continue their senatorial careers until they retire. If they were men and couldn't control their noodlees, the GOP might stand a chance... but such is not the case.

finestein is a commie.

As toad said... she is a rabid gun control nut who thinks that only politicals and those in the entertainment industry should have guns... and then... with no restrictions...  She is against any judge who would uphold the constitiution as she herself is against the constitution and believes it should change when socialists are in power.

What has confused MT is that she has given our money to some causes that seem more right than left....

that is not inconsistent given that she has never seen a giveaway program that she did not like no matter who runs it so long as it grabs a few more votes and increases the power and scope of government.

Anything she can vote to fund..... she will.

Hi All,

Across the board, and not just in regards to gun control, Feinstein is thoroughly and consistently liberal. One can assess this easily from her scores with the various interest groups.

For instance, in the years 1995-2004, she scored 100% with NARAL/Planned Parenthood/Pro-Choice America. Supporting their interests every time. Keep in mind that this means she has voted for partial birth abortion, and unlimited funding, and against anything even felt to be a potential restriction on abortion on demand.

Regarding poverty legislation she never saw a giveaway she didn't like, scoring consistent 100% with Bread for the World and Partnership for the Homeless.

In terms of Social Issues, she is a darling of both People for the American Way and Americans for Democratic Action, never scoring less than 80% with either group - which is hard indeed, many Senators routinely score a zero and even Robert Byrd (who is much closer to really being that increasingly rare animal -  a Democratic Centrist) scores in the 60s.

I wonder ... would Jesus score 100% for "Bread for the World"? Is that a bad thing?

She isn't anywhere near the Lib you guys think she is. Amazing how so many of you can be wrong.... all at the same time.

She's far too much of a Lib on the things that really count...and NASA isn't one of those.

Amazing how you can fail to grasp the idea that there are some issues that won't be compromised. Issues of paramount importance that you are either right or wrong upon. She's wrong on those and that's the point.

Toad,

I think the critical point in this discussion was missed by us. You see compared to MT, feinstien is likley to be more centrist. We assumed he was really talking about the country overall where she is definately way left. :p  ;)
