This really makes no sense.....

The Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional to have the Ten Commandments displayed in a court of law..........But

As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S.
Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view  ... it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and
Monuments in Washington, D.C.

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

Apparently it is unconstitutional for us, but not for them?

Yeap.  Do you actually enjoy getting retarded crap like this in your email?  Instead of posting it to a BBS, I just delete it when it's dropped in my inbox.

"According to Weinman, the designer of this frieze, the tablet visible between the two central male figures, engraved with the Roman numerals I through X, represents not the Ten Commandments but the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, collectively known as the Bill of Rights."

It's bad enough that I get this chain mail crap in my inbox, do we really need these obviously false urban legends repeated here?

I agree that most of the e-mails like that are pure bunk. It is nice however to have them posted and exposed as bunk here. There are some who really don't know how to do a snopes search, sad. The more info exposing that type of carp the better. Hopefully it will tend to make it more scarce in the future.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

My kid's constantly forwarding stuff like weaselsans post.. she still sees the world through the optimistic, idealistic eyes of youth.

When she'd send stuff like that I'd just send back the one line.. "snopes"

She finally asked me in person 'what the hell is 'snopes' anyway?'

Guess I shoulda sent her the link. Anyway, I laughed and said "Still trying to get yer parents to do yer homework for yah?".

She called last night... she found snopes. Boy, did I ever get an earful.

Watching and listening to the death of a liberal mindset has it's upside ;)

Funny how something as obvious as the tablets of the ten commandments becomes the bill of rights. Lucky for you it wasn't 11. Then they would represent the ten little indians.

Note that Moses is not given any special emphasis in this depiction: his figure is not larger than the others, nor does it appear in a dominant position. Also, the writing on the tablet carried by Moses in this frieze includes portions of commandments 6 through 10 (in Hebrew), specifically chosen because they are not inherently religious. (Commandments 6 through 10 proscribe murder, adultery, theft, perjury, and covetousness.)

This is even better note that Moses isn't taller than anyone else. Well that cinches it, we can put Moses in a courtroom holding what is obviously the ten commandments as long as he isn't to tall. The best part is only partial ten commandments are ok. Especially the non-religious ones such as adultery and covetousness?
