Ram you are a troubled man.
If you look at Conways 1922-1945. You will see that Armoured Cruisers like the Huron were numbered as CA9. Protected Cruisers like the Denver where numbered CL16 and Light cruisers like the Omaha where numbered CL4.
The pattern here is that armoured cruisers where numbered CA and Protected and Light cruisers where numbered CL.
The last "Armoured Cruiser" was CA19. The First "Heavy Cruiser" was CA24 Pensacola.

Lets see, you have A LOT of assumptions completely wrong. I will burst your bubble for quite a second, sorry if it hurts.

Ohhh dont need to look at conways. "protected cruisers" like the Denver were commissioned in 1905. "LIGHT Cruisers" like the Omaha, were in 1923.

ARMORED CRUISERS like the Huron...(lol you'll gonna love this one) were CLASSIFIED AS ACR!!!!!!!!!!!. USS huron was ACR-9 SOUTH DAKOTA until renamed IN 1920! as CA-9 Huron

(guess that conways didnt say that,huh? but there is even more)

NO. Armored Cruisers were designed ACR, AND THEN, and by CONVENIENCE they were renamed HEAVY CRUISERS, designated as CAs.

Same with Light Cruisers...but twice. The USS protected cruisers changed designation from a single C (C.22, C.11) to PG in 1920 (yes, they were reclassified as PATROL GUNBOATS, believe it or not), and THEN in 1921 as LIGHT CRUISERS, designed as CLs.

NOTE that the ships designations CHANGED from ARMORED CRUISER to HEAVY CRUISER, and PROTECTED CRUISER to LIGHT CRUISER.

So in 1919 we have the ARmored Cruiser ACR-9 South Dakota, whilst in 1921 we have the HEAVY CRUISER CA-9 Huron. Same with the Protected Cruisers-Light Cruisers.

The last "Armoured Cruiser" was CA19. The First "Heavy Cruiser" was CA24 Pensacola.

USS you mean?...either way you are wrong. the first USS Heavy Cruiser built and commisioned as such from the start was USS Salt Lake City, in december 1929. USS Pensacola didnt did it until January 1930.

Jimdandy, I know what you mean. My pet peeve is in movies, TV,etc., when they say "Over and Out", which means "your turn to talk but I'm not gonna be listening". "Roger and out" is what they want to say.

Good reference. But we are talking about the USNs use of CA to define a Heavy cruiser. Do any of those other countries use CA to define a heavy cruiser? So you say it is just coincidence that light cruisers are designated CL and Heavy Cruisers(the successors to Armored Cruisers) are designated CA?  That when looked at cronologicaly that CAs follow on the Armoured Cruisers and that the Armoured Cruisers had there call letters redesignated to CA in the early 20s.
OK.
Ill keep looking for  a definitive statement to the contrary.
