Flak needs to be turned up

AvA Staff,

I think you guys really need to think about turning the field flak up.

I was just noodling around this morning so I flew over to A46 to practice my bombing and straffing. Guys I kept count and I made 15 PASSES over the field at low level with the flak hitting me and sounding like a hail storm yet I NEVER received the slightest bit of damage.

I realize you are trying to encourage more A2A fights and everyone hates the guys that never come out of the flak but you HAVE GOT to have some defence of the fields. You should be able to attack a field without getting some damage for the AI guns - at least make it like the old days where you had to take out the flak first before you take or attack a field.

What is it set out now? Seems we used to set it at .7 or such. What ever the setting is now - it needs to be jacked up for the benefit of both sides.

Setting is .25 for the light ack, .1 for the puffy ack.

Actually, Jester, I think you're the first who's argued that the ack isn't powerful enough.  Haven't heard many complaints about vulching, so I've just assumed that the ack is doing enough of a job of keeping people away (or else people are voluntarily refraining from vulching, which is even better).

IMO ack is ok as it is.

we got into a low fight by the port on the Brittish mainland and i still lost an aileron off my 190A5 from a low pass at about 3k.

Talking of keeping vulchers away, I haven't seen a full on vulch yet in the Arena, To be honest, I think it's great, fair enough get caught in the middle of a Jabo raid and it's fair game if you die.

I agree with Jester.I was manning an AAA battery and scored a direct hit at short range that should have had a disastrous efect on the wing. The only thing that happened was he flew off in the sunset.
Now at a distance of 800 the wing should've came off.

My opinion on the ack is split - on the one hand ack was pretty nasty stuff in real life.  But on the other hand it gets really old to get shot down by the AI again and again.  My feeling is that it should only be turned up if there is a big problem with 500' bombers wasting fields, or with vulching.

Manned ack is full strength.  Only the auto ack has been adjusted.

Well OM, I don't imagine anyone is going to complain about the ack being too low if they can get into, strafe or take out targets without taking some damage. Kind of goes to figure.

I think you have to admitt it is set a little too low if I can make 15 PASSES at hangar top level without ANY damage. As many hits that were sounding off on my Boston SOMETHING should have flown off. Didn't even get an oil leak.

Which is probably a realistic scenario considering you did your run at over 350mph low-level taking out the dar.

I think the current flak settings ARE realistic.  Historically, AAA was ineffective against bombers and especially against fast moving fighters.  Was something like 1 plane downed for every 10000 rounds fired or something.
