Just got a new 1900XT. Thought I would try the Omega drivers. What a nightmare! SEEMED ok, but on reboot after installation windows still detecting new hardware. Yellow ?? everywhere even though the grahics card shows up in Device Manager. Last straw was BSOD when try to launch ATI tool thingy that came with the omegas.

Cleared the lot out and went back to Catalysts, despite misgivings about the  CCC.  No problems now and boy is it fast!

Anyone know where I went wrong? I simply downloaded the latest, extracted and ran the exe. Followed the instructions and it all installed. HMM.

It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

Yeah I've done a few cards in my time, uninstall everything regcleaner the lot. Can't help but think either omega aren't ready for 1900 or I screwed something up. It put me off anyhow!

I put in 2gig of ram when I was at it. Feels really over the top though I have to say:o

I had a policy mature, thats why I'm splashing all this cash:D  Better reinvest some I guess.

CCC isn't as good as you may think and you don't need it....you'll probably run better with the regular CP

I don't think the Control Panel works with the latest cards. I may be wrong. I am aware of the limitations of CCC, but If Omega drivers don't work properly and CP doesn't work with newest cards we're stuck with CCC for AntI Aliasing etc.

I am finding CCC doesn't hogg as much resources as people complain about, although the PC is slower to boot.

YA...I'M STILL RUNNING MY SAPPHIRE 9600XT SO THE ONLY DRIVERS I CAN USE (THAT I'VE FOUND) ARE 4.12 AND 5.3 (5.3 JUST TRIED RECENTLY AND IT PERFORMS FOR ME JUST SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN 4.12, SAME STABILITY) SO I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE NEWEST DRIVERS, OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT THEY MAKE C.O.D UO AND C.O.D. 2 STUTTER LIKE MAD
