They object to Muhammed being depicted in a cartoon, but do not object to extremists chopping the head off innocent people with a dull knife.   Strange set of priorities.

What you are missing is that to them, any infidel is, by definition, NOT innocent, and thus its OK to do whatever it takes to them to achieve the aim of a word wide islamic state.
