Last week, a customer was testing their new ecommerce authorization code.  Part of the testing was "stress test", where you try to break the code with volume.

The name they were using during the test was "William Jefferson Clinton".

After a short period of testing, they got a call from the Secret Service asking what they were doing with the President's credit card.

Now, if someone had told me this story while I was at a party, I would have laughed in their face and said "good one".  The reason I'm not laughing now is because I heard this customer telling the story to our project leader here at work.

Never heard of Echelon.  Someone told me there was a 60 Mintues story on a while ago about cell phones, and how they listen in and parse all the emails.  I thought it sorta sounded X-Files -ish.

I should note that it was not the President's credit card number (guess they are not that smart), just the use of the name so many times.

Seems there was a news story about a program called "carnivore" that Reno was considering using to monitor e-mail. This is not one of the hoaxes, this came out in CNN with a statement from Reno endorsing it but requesting they change the name to a more touchy feeley one. This is so we wouldn't feel so threatened while our e-mail was being monitored. Doesn't that just give you a nice warm fuzzy????

btw:
Did you guys ever tried "screensaver" named "The Game" ? That little sob really surprised me by sending a e-mail to "?????@hizbollah.con", which returned back to me of course.
Friend was in Lebanon in that time so I send him a GSM text-message and asked "Whatta h€ll did you done?" because I though he was kidding with me
