Viewing Blue Screen Messages
« on: February 12, 2006, 11:06:00 AM »
Hey guys,
Lately I've been getting blue screen reboots.
Problem is the BSOD message is displayed too briefly to read before the reboot begins.
My question is how can I get the message to display long enough to read it and begin to troubleshoot the problem?
Also is there a failure log dump I could view to see the failure mode.
Running WXP w/service pack 2.
Thanks in advance!

Regards
Sun

Finally found the answer to the "fast blue screen" issue.

In case anyone else runs into this problem:

"By default XP is set to restart at a serious system failure, sometimes causing the system to be caught in an infinite [and annoying] loop.

Change the default setting now before you need to by;

Clicking Start>Control Panel>System.

Click the Advanced tab.

Click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.

Remove the tick from the box next to Automatically Restart under System Failure.

Click OK.

The next time you have a serious system failure rather than reboot, your PC should present you with a blue screen of death[!] with an error message.

By posting the error message the fault can be more easily determined and the remedy found."
