Betty this is for you...

I was watching the military or history channel last night and there was a show on about the P47N's, I saw 1 flying in a formation and it was called "Betty" had a cool black and white checkered  paint scheme and everything. I tried looking on the net for it but can't find anything on it. If anyone has any pics or knows about the plane I'm talking about we need to get a skin made so Betty can fly her own plane

I watched the same show , and i didnt see one p47N , when they talked about the N model they showed D model film . I recorded the show and when back through it, From what i saw their wasnt one N in the entire show . Some of the late d models look similar to an N from afar , its the lack of the larger dorsil fin that gives them away as D's   38

Ok she's gonna have to be a P51 pilot.  These are the only ones besides the B17s I've found.

lol thats cool there were more planes with Betty's name lol

38 yeah the show was calling them P47N's, I'm no P47 scholar so I wouldn't have known an N from a P model. But reading your post, I think your right, I'll try and watch it again this weekend, they usually show re-runs on weekends, but I know I saw a P47 that said Betty on it, Its cool theres all those B17's and P51's with her name on it lol I'm sure she would rather have a pony anyways :)

Was it a black and white checkered nose?  And if so was it bubbletop or razorback?

If it's black and white checked it's 78th FG.  I wonder if it's yellow and black diamond checked though.  That would make it 353rd FG.

Both 8th AF flying out of England.

Yeah I checked the littlefriends data base and no mention of a "betty" P-47 in the 78th and I ran the 353rd as well and only Betty was the P-51 you posted above.

I will try and watch for that program and dvr it and see if I can catch the AC codes or SN.

it was all black and white footage, but from the shades it looked white and black checkered, as I said I just caught a glimpse of it flying in formation and they kinda zoomed the camera in on that flight and I could see it clearly. it looked black and white from my point of view
