That I had never heard before, and from the first it grabbed me. The song was Joanne by Michael Nesmith.

Now, I sat there and thought that the name was awfully familiar for some reason, did some research and yes, Michael Nesmith of the Monkees. Started researching him and found out he is quite the inventive person.

Good songs, helped create MTV, regular contributor to the edge.org (that sight where they ask one question a year and put it to various scientists and other thinkers), book writer, etc.

Strange what you can uncover some times.

Michael Nesmith was the one who hated the "TV thing".  He was a musician and saw the Monkees as being hypocritical.  I still say "What Am I Doing Hangin' Around?" is The Monkees best song.

I believe he lives in Arizona and now paints.  He'll occasionally play a small gig or something.

And his mom invented whiteout
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
