F*** Cox Communications!!
« on: March 12, 2006, 11:52:03 AM »
How the F does one of the largest ISP's and Cable company manage to have an outage for almost 24 hours..If they weren't the only broadband company in this area I'd take my business elsewhere. Supposedly the entire state of Virginia was affected. But it started here in Hell I mean Hampton Roads. It's not just the outage but when I called just to report it when I first noticed..they were quite rude.

Don't get it though...there is no bad weather or disasters. It has been very warm this weekend though....The nice weather must have killed their servers:rolleyes:

I have cox comm here in NW Florida. They have always been very responsive. A few minor glitches but as a whole very good to me. Nice customer service, my only prob with them would be the telephone wait while trying to get in touch with them.

24 hours of outage annually is better than 100% coverage dialup. I think we are all just spoiled after having BB for so long. I know I am.

Know how yah feel. Been VoIP here with Vonage for two years now. Intermittent cable outages drive me right up the freakin wall. Would like to move over to a satellite based system. Seems that that way, as long as I can keep my dish powered I can stay in business regardless of local outages.

Anbody know of a wideband VoIp capable satellite provider?

ASTAC I didn't have any problem when I called them this morning, the guytold me that they were working on it and had been working on the problem all night and would have it back up in a couple of hours, so I went to Fram Fresh, and when I got home at 10 it was back on.
The guy I talked to even walked me through reinsatlling my modem, he was really nice.

I live in SW VA, Cox has the franchise rights for Roanoke county, where I live. Bastids don't even HAVE to give me cable because the contract says population density of less then 20 houses per mile don't have to be strung. (They stopped like 1 MILE from my house.) Can't get DSL either..Verizon uses pretty much the same rule. If I have to do another year on dialup my future is gonna involve a tall empty building and a sniper rifle:furious

Hey at least you have Verizon, here we have either Cox telephone, or Verzion South, you'd think that Verzion and Verzion South would be the same company, but noooooooo. Verzion South used to be Contel back when I was little, and they are still in the same litigation they've been in since Verzion bought C&P telephone, I have to have either Verzion South or Cox. I'll take Cox any day.
But I do think its a load of bull that they won't connect to your house, but believe it or not theres people living in Pungo that have dialup and tv antenna's

I'm in Sterling, VA, we got Adelphia. It's okay, atleast based on price and the bandwidth we get. The people that are "tech support" are smacktards though. It took me pointing out an obvious problem with their service to admit that they had a problem with their DNS servers. They blamed it on my router up to that point. Idiots.
