Wow... didn't expect to see so many F-15s in the boneyard already. Guess I'm getting older than I realized. :(

That is not really a boneyard saw a special on the discovery channel the military keeps those A/C there for storage becuase it can't really rust in the desert climate they can have some of those planes combat ready in about a month or 2

Is that a row of F104s?  third row, in the triangle on bottom of pic,  just left of the C-123's and below the A-10s.

Or maybe not, might be T-38s I guess

Once upon a time I loaded a full load of new chopper parts at Sikorsky Helicopter in Stratford CT and took them to the China Lakes Naval Weapons Center in Cali.
Got escorted out in the desert to a chainlink fenced area of about 5 acres. The area was marked "Weapons Leathality Test Area".
There were some Viet Nam era planes, Korea era and even some WWII stuff there.
I had to wait until a giant forklift was brought out to the area and was pretty much allowed to roam around and have a look see. I was nearly drooling at some of the planes there.
When I asked the hash mark laden gentleman what was going to be done in the area, he confirmed what I allready knew. They were to be strafed, rocketed, bombed, whatever. Sort of a shame.

Those looked alot like F-104's to me, too.  They may be parts planes that Germany and Italy didn't want.

Those are T-38's.  The horizontal stabilizor is mounted on the body.  F-104's have the T-tail design that covers the exhaust when seen from the top.

I believe the terms of the SALT treaty have been met. When I was there last November and December there was no chopping going on. There was and is quite a bit of parts retrieval for flying birds.

Yes there are Canbera's there. Quite a few and they are visible from the road as well.

On the inside of the base I was able to see other birds like OA37's (tweety birds) and several Cesna 337's that were used for close air spotting. There are also some A-4's still there.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
