Hi Guys,
The local paper recently ran an article today on a coffee house set up in Iraq by a member of our congregation, Pete Huggins. Pete is a Blackhawk dustoff pilot, he's a recent convert to Christianity who was actually baptized over in Iraq. His wife Molly, who flies Kiowas with the TN National Guard and is also a part of our congregation, is mentioned in the article as well. They are a great couple and I can't tell you how many times they have gone above and beyond the call to help others in need, including my family. The Cafe itself was part of Pete's desire to help the guys in his unit, and worked long hours there without pay.
Unfortunately, the article is an example of a really interesting story, made somewhat boring by uninspired writing (which I've done many a time myself.) I was hearing stories, and amusing anecdotes about what his unit did and how the FRG helped from home and so on. The really interesting story wasn't just that a dust-off unit set up a functioning Java cafe in a war zone, but the sacrifices people made to do that and the way family members and friends from home were critical in making it happen and how important that was to the morale of the guys in Iraq. Anyway, here it is:
