Nailed to the CV
« on: March 15, 2006, 07:19:08 PM »
I know this has been brought up before, but I think it needs to be looked at again.  If you have command of the CV, you need to be at the CV.  Either in a gun, tower, plane or vehicle launched from it.  We still have people who will take control of the CV and go off to the other side of the map.  IF you are not at the CV, you don't know what it needs.  Let someone who is there command it.  If someone has command and moves to another base, they should lose command at that point.  Anyone who launches from another base can't take control, period.

I agree with you here on this one. I have always wished it was like what you describe. It would cut down on the dweebs who hide the things as well; simply because they would not be able to go fight elsewhere.

I'd say you should have to be in the CV's tower to command it PERIOD. Once you go take off in a plane, even if it IS off the CV, you relinquish command.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Although some guys can mutitask and fly and command the CV,  I like this better.   At least in the tower, hanger, or Guns.  And if you hit AFK, you lose command also.

Would be neat though if Squads could have their own personnal CVs

I would say in an ideal world this would be good, but how many people are going to just sit in the tower to command the CV when there is action surrounding it?  NONE!!!  There is only so much you can do when in command, a few clicks of the mouse and your done for several minutes at most.  So I think this much of a limit would be too much.  On the other hand, it there were more control to the CV....  You know, things like speed, zip zap, reshaping ship formations, etc, then I would be all for this extreme limitation.  This way, you may not be able to gain any kills or points, but you would have something to do.  What if there were "repair" crews onboard for damage.  Maybe you could even dictate what they should work on first, like a down gun, dar, etc.

Yes but the CV command should be range based in feet.

How many times have you seen bombers come in and turned the CV in time to save it? I've done it but not necessarily from a plane launched off the CV.

It could even be based on the visual range setting in Arena Setup.

Oh, but this would cause a problem for the CMs when they set up an arena for an event...

I like this idea.  I've seen too many absent commanders let a cv die because they aren't invested in the situation and paying attention.  The worst cases are when a guy takes command of more than one cv.  I've seen up to four controlled by one player.

I concur.

Major Game buster Nibblers hide the CV and get the port taken or get bombed or both.

REstict who has command please.

I don't think we should restrict command of a cv to some people.  There should be some way to boot them from the cv because they can be anoying. There should be some way for the command to swicth the formation of the ships to better protect the cv.  It would be cool if u could have like 2 u-boats  per cv that respawns.  But then some planes would need depth charges.

I think the commander must be in the tower or manning a gun ON THE CV ONLY.  U can't tell where the bombers at 10k r from the cruser.
