South Pacific Pact - an idea...
« on: February 12, 2006, 08:09:39 PM »
I'm floating the idea of creating a South Pacific Pact. I am interested in getting a list of squad COs (and XOs) who want to take part in constructive discussions on the possible formation of a  Pact or Alliance of Aces High squadrons primarily made up from players from the South Pacific region.

Please read carefully:
===============

This Pact is NOT a sqaudron as per the Aces High definition. Its a possible Alliance of like-minded squadrons which will form a larger co-operative body for the purposes of furthering its members success in Aces High II. The Pact would ideally share common strategic goals and philosophies, such as fostering a survival mentality and operating in tightly co-ordinated wing-groups etc.

The Pact does not seek to replace any existing sqaudron or combine their pilots into a new replacement squadron. It will recognise all its existing participant sqaudrons and respect their mandates. Further, this Pact cannot and will not directly recruit into itself as it is not an Aces High squadron - any recruiting is done by the member sqaudrons into their squadron. The Pact does not intend to substitute, integrate, or aggregate any member squadrons command structures, training mechanisms, organisations, or any quality of those squadrons. Its simply a framework to achieve better co-ordination and support between existing South Pacific squadrons.

The Pact would most likely provide an umbrella "super-squadron" which comprises of the member Aces High squadrons and would be, ideally, based in one Aces High country. The goal of the Pact would be to provide mutual support for its members in the M.A. and special events, possible combined training/competition nights?, and organise and execute strategic missions in the M.A, and special events. Of course these are just some loose ideas floating around in my head - this is all open for discussion. There are plenty of details to work out.

The reason i want to do this is help organise the South Pacific pilots (Aussie and NZ'ers and others) into a force large enough to rival some of the larger sqaudrons which consist of North American players (which are by far and away the largest demographic). As it stands us South Pacific types tend to fly during the graveyard shifts (when theres not that many people on) and those that are, are all fragmented across numerous sqaudrons. Its time to unite and be able to draw upon member abilities without loosing your existing squadron afiliations or compromising the way in which they operate. I, ideally, want all members to be able to log on, and always find a compatible wing-man who share a common tactical and strategic vision. I dont want the Pact to have a 'supreme commander', and i am not trying to set myself up as it!

So there you have it. What i want for now is to collect some email addresses (send me a private message through the BB - DONT post your email addy here...) for those that want to take part in a discussion about the above.

I realise this is pretty ambitious, and may well be doomed to failure, but its worth a try :aok

I cant necessarily count on any others from my squad, but you can count me in.  Hawaii may not be QUITE so far out, but you can consider me on the border?  :)

Yes he is the CO of VF-17. I was the CO but handed the reigns over to him a few weeks ago and he has been getting our group back into flight status.
