Okinawa Rain of Steel Frame 3 AAR
« on: March 21, 2006, 07:03:14 AM »
Gentlemen,

Okinawa Rain of Steel has been an adventure at the very least.

Frame 1 saw the Allied Forces approaching the Ryuku Island Chain with the intent of invasion. The Axis Forces ended those ideas rather quickly. All Allied Carriers were sent to Davy Jones Locker wearing bandages.

Frame 2 found another group of Allied Carriers in position to capture 3 Axis bases. That didnt work out too well either. Some damage was wrought to the Axis installations, but captures just didnt work out.

Frame 3 comes along with the Allies wearing a grimace as they attempted to extract their remaining carriers from the East China Sea. Fights were fast and furious.
In the area of C1 the Axis Forces were in a struggle. Allied CAP wrought havoc on Axis formations. Not a pretty site for the Axis commanders. In the end, the Axis once again won the battles.

Axis Forces won the FSO. The bragging rights, sheep skins, beer barrels, all belong to the Axis.

This was my first FSO. I spent Frame 1 and Frame 2 wandering around the arena watching the battles unfold. Frame 3 I tried to get in on the fight. I wish I had spent the entirety of Frame 3 watching the fights.
I tried to build this FSO with balance in mind. The plane sets were chosen after consultation with others among the CM cadre as were the orders before I send them to the CIC's.
I was trying to offer the community a fast and furious FSO that found combatants engaged shortly after lift off. The one thing I have learned to detest is spending lots of time looking for the enemy. I wanted to avoid that if at all possible. I like to think that I managed that.
I attempted to weigh my plans against what I normally see in the MA and tried to keep a step above the MA mentality. I think I managed that also.
Overall I think the FSO went well and it is my hope that all participants enjoyed it. There were a few problems encountered and from those I have learned much. Next time will be better!

Thanks go out to Sled, daddog, skernsk and others of the CM Team. Also Thanks go to members of the community for their feedback, it is appreciated!

That was fun!  I only was avalable for frame 1.  In the frame 2/3s of the squads for C1 + C2 didn't show but it was ALOT of fun.  Congrats to the Axis.
