DFW Gun Range.............????????

No Lazs, I don't agree. Smoking in pubs is about to be banned in England - from 2007. The ban means that I'll be free to breathe clean air, and free to wear the same shirt the next day if I must.

Last fall I flew into DFW for a couple days work in the area. I saw a flier in the airport about the range. After checking into the hotel me and a few of the guys I was working with went to check it out.

The range was nice and the selection of firearms you could rent was awesome. I settled in on a Kimber .45 and 4 boxes of ammo. The adventure wasnt cheap, it cost me somewhere around $80 for the hour spent in the store. But it was a very fun experience. I really wanted to buy that .45 when I was finished, but decided to save the money for more WW2 long guns...its an addiction of mine.

I hate to see that the range has been damaged. What are the chances it will be repaired? Skuzzy if they rebuild you should check it out.

beet... you were free to do all of that before you took away the smokers and pub owners freedom... You could breath fresh air any place you wanted.

You seem to dfine freedom as being whatever seems to be in your personal best interest and that means. to you,  that taking away other peoples freedom is of no consequence.

your defenition of freedom seems to be your freedom to take away the property rights of anyone you please so long as it will be to some real or imagined benifiet to you.

Beet, this is oour country, our laws, our rights.  While you have visited here, you have not lived it and lack the perspective to make proper comment on it.  Same goes for anyone commenting on England who has not grown up their.

In this Beet, you are out of your element and are just pissing people off acting like some high and mighty judge.  Whether intended or not, that is how you are being perceived.

You do not like nor appreciate derogatory comments about Englend being made from those who have not made England thier home.  Please do not be a hypocrit.  Thank you.

- except in a pub. There were two choices available to me -  breathe in a smoke laden atmosphere, or stay away. Soon there will be a third way - that of being able to hang out at my local hostelry, and breathe relatively clean air. The first time I was ever able to exercise that privilege was in California in 1998, smoking in bars have been banned there for a great many years.

Not sure what you're getting at, old bean. I am not making any judgements, and neither have I made any derogatory remarks about the US in this thread. I have never suggested, on this board or anywhere else, that Americans should give up their rights to gun ownership. That seems to be happening in any case, in cities like Washington DC and San Francisco, where gun ownership rights are being taken away...

Actually I have lived in the US - for about three years in total.

What I don't get is people willing to debate this, yet not properly get down to the bottom of the matter.
Maybe endless threads that go nowhere is the train of thought some posters are after?

You made the comment about, "all you dorks getting it" (paraphrased, but dorks was mentioned).  Living here 3 years is not being raised here, nor does it make you a citizen.  During the 3 years here, I would just imagine your allegiance was still with England, as it should be.

I have visited a lot of countries and I never presume to tell them how thier culture would benefit from blah, blah, blah.  I make an attempt to understand and respect thier culture and leave it at that.
People make up the culture and society of a country.  What those people are used to, accept, and are happy with makes thier culture the best, for them.  Presuming any culture is better than another approaches arrogance.

There really is no reason for you to have an opinion about how our country deals with guns.  As there really is no reason for someone in the U.S. to have an opinion on how England deals with guns.
This does not mean we should not spend any time getting to know the differences between cultures and how they work.  It simply means no one should be free to berate a culture for its own choices.

Many times, you appear to do just that, whether intended or not.  Just FYI.

I think your memory deceives you. At no time on this board or anywhere else have I suggested that Americans should give up their guns, and I challenge you to identify a thread on this board in which I did.

You're telling Skuzzy his impression that you come across as explicitly suggesting others adopt your supposed agenda is an incorrect perception, since you never did explicitly suggest that Americans should give up their guns?

You can rent firearms at the range Skuzzy. Pistols to full autos at DFW. When they get a new roof of course.
