Being a newbe I do a lot of takeoffs and landings.  Is there a common protocal regarding directions for landing etc.  In real world there is a tower or wind sock that controls directions for landing and take off.  What is the deal Aces High?

Since there are no friendly collisions, there are no concerns about takeoff direction.

Put it down as fast as you you can so you don't get shot down :)  If you stop it on the runway, without exploding, it counts as a landing.

I do find it fun to make a nice landing, but it's up to you.  I suggest if your taking your time, check six to make sure someone who wasn't happy about you shooting down his buddy, didn't follow you back to seek revenge :)

Hell, no!  :D

Land where you can, when you can, any way you can!  It's hard enough without landing protocols, as well.  Don't worry...you can't hurt yourself or anyone else regardless of your approach direction.

You can choose to make a proper approach (from any direction) onto a runway, or grass, or you can belly in to a stop...you can even land just a fuselage, sans wings and tail-feathers, upside down...as long as you stop on concrete, you're golden.  On a friendly base, that is.

I try to finish a successful mission with a proper landing, but tactics often dictate some adaptation (and some runway foam!)

Luck!
