Proper Info

Since this is WW2, I think that we as pilots in AH get too much info about the battlefield.

What I would like to see is fightersdont have radar, unless it was a radar equipped plane. They can however be radioed from a guy in the tower, on the whereabouts of enemy planes, loc and alt.

For bombers Id like to see the pilot in charge of flying the plane and 1/2 the gunner positions. And the second crew member would be the bombardier and radio man. The pilot would get all info from him. Also during the drop, the bombardier would have control of the plane.

The "radar" in AH provides a pitiful amount of data compared to the radar in WWII.

Altitude?  No idea.

Speed?  No idea.

Heading?  No idea.

All of those were provided by BoB era radar.

I think the current DAR setup is a concession between having "real" radar and functional game play. Yet at the same time, most pilots can't spend a huge amount of time just looking for a fight. I can only fly for about an hour most evenings so I would rather have a quick way to find a fight so I can spend most of my time flying. I can't see myself spending any of my hour in the control tower. It's bad enough that I have to spend the necessary 5 minutes just climbing and another 3 or 4 minutes just getting anywhere near a target area. I'm lucky if I get 2 sorties in - though 1 good long flight with several kills landed is enough to satisfy my addiction until the next day! - LOL.

If I had 8 hours day to play with, I would want as much realism as I could get but that is simply not practical.

Relying on a control tower would require a better sense of teamwork that is simply difficult to achieve in the MA. I'm not saying it is a totally bad idea. Perhaps a person in the tower looking into a radar scope makes sense for scenarios. Perhaps spending time behind a radar scope would be a great way to earn easy, but minimal, perk points as an incentive.

If you are going to add proper radar, maybe you should add proper traffic controllers.

I don't think anyone is going to want to sit in the tower and tell everybody where to fly. Having the map is like having someone in the tower telling you where the bad guys are. So it would come out to the same thing IMHO.

Filth, like everything else AH is a balance.

Tip it too far towards historically accurate and its not fun for enough people anymore. Tip it too far towards fun, and you lose the guys who want historicly accurate..
