The sad thing that people can't see, or don't want to see, that there is religious segragation.  Unfortuantely this should be an oxymoron but in today's society they go hand in hand.

Gotta love the way being a liberal, or democrat, or both immediately places you into the "stupid" catagory in this country. Or on this board, anyway. Besides, it doesn't explain why Dubya is a Republican  .

Ya know, I think both parties have much the same problem with the other. The problem is that they don't agree. Oh no!

But you know what bothers me most? The way Republicans and other conservatives think that they have cornered the market on morality and rightness. Which they then decide needs to be shoved down our throats with policies like, say, pushing to make abortion illegal in the US. No, I'm not trying to start a pro-life/pro-choice argument. Just giving an example of what bugs me.

Guess what? We don't need to be corrected guys! I don't need to know (and don't care, honestly) how wrong you think I am, because you sure as hell aren't going to change my opinion, especially by being obnoxious and self-righteous. It's not a matter of you being right and me being wrong, or vice-versa. You can't simply say "You're wrong" and be correct, because I think I'm right! We simply have different ideas of where the country should go.

Oh, and by the way... some of my best friends are republican, including my girlfriend. Surprise surprise! They're damn smart people, and they respect my intelligence as well. We don't need to condemn each other's personalities and intelligence because of differing political perspectives, as some on this board (*cough*) seem to find necessary.

Morality is a word used by some people as an excuse to force other people into living by their set of values.

As for New York, i don't live there and i hate it with passion. One has nothing to do with the other.

If being immoral means that you don't take any toejam form anyone though, get ready to crucify me

Well, if you take that as being a standard set of values, I agree.  We're all different.  What my interpretation of morals is this:

If one acts recklessly, endangers others lives by foolish acts, raises a kid by beating them endlessly, abuses substances,lies, pretends to be 'a tough guy' all the time by 'not taking toejam from nobody'...then I highly suggest these kinds of people don't have children for the sake of the rest of us. Those kind of morals are not likely to be a positive influence on anyone.  

I believe a good set of 'morals' is one that a person treats others as they expect to be treated.  Pretty simple standard set of morals for me.
