AH has skins options. You select an aircraft in the hangar, and there is a drop-box at the top. From there you can choose different skins to fly in. If you do not have the check box enabled, you will not download new skins.

On one hand, it takes up bandwidth, and can make you lag. On the other hand, it is one of the more reliable ways to get new skins when they are released.

Note that it does not always download skins, only when the server has new ones that you have not yet downloaded.

For some people skin download causes slight to severe connection issues (due to the file transfer in the background of the game). You might notice for example lag in text and other players movements, or "rubber bullets" - up to game getting unplayable due to warping.

If thats the case, you can disable skin download during game and do that while in other online arenas (Training Arena) for ex or go to HTC homepage and download the complete skin pack manually.

Or log on, wait an hour and then come back to fly, after all the skins are downloaded.
