Depends on your idea of "messed up". 7 people dead on Kauai from an overloaded earthen dam that burst. Over 50 million gallons of raw sewage pumped into the oceans and canals around downtown and Kaneohe bay from overloaded sewage systems and broken pipes. Flooded businesses and homes, rockslides and mudslides and roads that just dissapeared.
However, no interruptions in basic services for more than a day or so at a time, phones and electric still work, and except for a few homes that were washed away when that dam burst and a couple built on cliffsides that shifted and had to be abandoned, life quickly reverts to normal. The only problems tourists will note is that some of the beaches are still closed due to bacteria levels from the sewage spills. Other than that, if you didnt live here you'd never notice people were in fear of their lives just a week ago. Which is the way they want it. It's Paradise after all. Just ask the travel agents.
