Strange X45 problem
« on: April 07, 2006, 08:52:51 PM »
Ok, heres the deal.

Had an X-45, the throttle unit seemed to go bad.  Throttle was spiking, rudder was spiking, it was doing bad things.  So, I tried to fix it, and ended up basically destroying it.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago.  I buy an X45 off Ebay for $40.  Of course, the stick is broken when it gets here.

When I hook the broken stick up to the throttle that came with it, the throttle works fine.  When I hook my old, functional (mostly) stick up to the new throttle, nothing happens.  If I detach the new throttle from the old stick, the stick begins responding again.

Any idea on what could be causing this?

Ok, narrowed it down a little, maybe.

The problem actually happens when the throttle is past half (physically).  As long as it stays at half or below, everything is fine.  Once it goes past half, the stick and throttle stop working completely.

Any ideas?

Could be a bad pot, a short, broken wire that gets pulled when the throttle moves...  Almost anything.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

One thing I didn't mention last night (didn't really check till after I posted).. this does not happen when the throttle is hooked up to the hosed stick.  The Ebay throttle can be moved from stop to stop when it is hooked to the Ebay joystick and everything registers fine.

Ah.  Sounds like it might be an incompatible version?

Probably have to check with saitek tech support.
