A local builder putting up a house was using a crew that looked like migrant workers (no idea whether they were legal or not). This was about 6 houses up the street from where I lived at the time so I got to see their progress on a daily basis. There wasn't a straight line anywhere in the entire framework--it was all shoddy and crooked. When they tried to put the roof beams on, about half the entire frame collapsed. That was the last time I saw that particular crew. From then on out, the crew was a group of Amish. Not only did the new crew put the house together right, they manged to get it done on time.
I agree with what Lazs said in another thread--many people have gotten so used to accepting shoddy work that they no longer remember what a quality job is.
