Cannot connect
« on: April 13, 2006, 07:04:23 PM »
I'm unable to connect to the server, I've been trying to hunt the reason but turned dry. Have the latest 2.07 Patch 2 installed. What I've done so far:

- unistalled virus software (F-prot Internet security 2006)
- disabled MS XP firewall

My internet works normally but when I try to ping the 206.16.30.39 it gives me "timeout."

I'm connectiong via welho (any Finns with the same problem?) with Morotola SBG900E WLAN. I've also tried via Ethernet cable with WLAN disabled.

Using a IBM X31, the offline AH works fine. Programs I've disabled:

- Skype
- Groove
- eMule
- Pdf etc. programs

I'm just not connecting. Any ideas on what I should troubleshoot next? I've missed one frame of Stalin's fourth allready due to not being able to connect and would hate to miss frame 3 - the Finns need all the troops available :)

Tx for any possible help!

If you cannot ping the server, I would suggest try running a PingPlot (http://www.pingplotter.com) to the IP address and see where the point of failure is.
Pings do not rely on ports, but if any router along the way has ICMP ECHO's disabled, you may not be able to ping or traceroute/PingPlot to the server either.

I think I'm onto the culprit - there's an inbuilt firewall in the wlan cablemodem. I should be able to handle it from here.

Tx!
