No problem Dux.
I'm not that familiar with HTCs rules on the matter.
Since its his website and his ***...I can understand such
a strict interpretation of the copyright laws.
Better to put a lid on everything than to try and police
what constitutes fair use. Makes perfect sense to me.
I've been down this road before myself also.
I had my work infringed upon...it was outright stolen!
No modification no nothing. It was being passed
off as original by the guy who took it. I pitched
a ***** and even talked to a few lawyers
about it. In the end I was basically told that
unless its costing me money or harming my reputation
that I should drop the issue. Unless there is some
substantial harm I was told to try and work it out.
In the end I 'convinced' the guy to stop using my work.
But that was a case of outright theft. It would be
the same as me buying a copy of one of Robert
Taylors paintings, having it professionally
reproduced, sticking my signature on them
and then selling them as my own work.
Having been stung by this kind of thing before
I made darn certain that I understood the law.
The last thing I would want to do is what was done
to me.
Now, having seen how the law is and how it actually
works I am wiser in the wyles of copyright
jurisprudence.
If it is an issue with HTCs sites and you intend
to keep using them I can always use screencaps from the
game or create some composite model photographs
of my own to use for future banners. just let me know
if thats the case.
P.S. Thanks daddog!
