:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

I always do that to people I know, but not to still a kill.  Most of the time I'll do it when they are landing, hopefully hurting, just to watch them crash.  You can also send them a join request right as they are ready to hit the runway, if you are siting in the tower watching some R****D like Stang trying to land his killllz

Ain't just teenage n00bs who pull the check-6 trick. I know of at least one long-time and frequent poster in this BBS who pulled it on me. I won't name names, but I won't forget it either.

Overheard a similar 'discussion' while flying between 7 and 8 yesterday.   Saw a fight on the deck and asked if they were OK.  Turns out two guys were essentially 'fighting' over who was going to kill the one bad guy.

Kinda shook my head and kept flying but part of what I heard was about a phantom 'check 6' to get one guy off the bad guy so the other guy could shoot.

Kinda sad really.

I've also heard a lot more folks getting bent out of shape about 'kill stealing"  Seems to me it's the price you pay in a furball when any number of guys may padlock onto a single badun.

Yesterday between 8 and 10 there was a ton of fights going on.  But to get to the best part of the furball you had to overfly your own guys mugging single baduns, and if you drifted too far towards the other guys base, you became the guy getting mugged by the mob.  If you could hang in the middle between the bases the fights were pretty good and the 'kill stealing' not an issue.

Still just a game last I checked.  Folks just need to relax :)

I believe the discussion u heard was between facelift and I.   I was engaged with an la7 1vs1 for over a minute and away from the horde.  La7 had the adv most of the fight and I finally took away his adv and had him on the deck.  Only 2 have facelift give me a phantom check 6 and fire his tracers over my shoulder.  I killed the La7 and made a statement over range channel.  It was quick and 2 the point.  PUNK!

I apologize if me calling him a punk bothered anyone.

Yeah ... but at least once or twice any time I fly I'm reminded that some people insist on cheating or pulling crap like the Phantom Check-6 call. That's usually when I log off.

I think part of the problem with kill-stealing is the vast disparity in lethality between planes. Anything armed with Hizookas can steal kills so easily from anything that ain't.

RTSigma, I was around A7 last night and I remember giving you a check 6 call while you were chasing a P47, there was an LA7 closing in on you which I blew to pieces as you followed the jug up into a 20-30 degree climb, I had quite a bit of E so  I stayed high and  behind you for a while covering you, the jug went up into the vert again and you made a flat left turn (I gave you another check 6 cause I knew the jug was gonna do an up and over on ya), I knew the jug was going to get guns on you so I shot him right as he stalled over to come back down on you. I don't know if this is the instance your talking about but if it is, I had no intention of stealing a kill, I was trying to help you out, from my point of view the LA7 was D400-500 behind you when when I killed him and the jug was already starting lining up a guns solution as he was starting a dive and you were making a flat left turn. I actually ho'd the jug cause I knew you only had another 3-5 seconds tops and I knew there wasn't enough time for me to make another move... on range I even called out that there was an la7 behind you and I announced that he was dead about 10 seconds after, I also announced when I shot the jug and you replied thank you if I remember correctly.

As I said not sure if this is the instance your talking about but if it is I have film on it at my house because I had a really good run and made a really really nice shot on pony d that same sortie. I watched that film twice last night just to see the shots I made on the 10 kills i landed. If you want I can email the film to you tonight when I get home or post it here. oh i was in a 38 if that helps. Like I said not sure if this is what your talkin about but I wasn't tryin to steal any kills

A pretty good example of what's happening.

I spotted a single Ki-61 a bit away from the fight. Turned on the film as I thought it might make for a good screenshot with a 475th marked 38G shooting down (hopefully) a Japanese Tony.

Clearly other folks saw him as well.  I was padlocked on him as were at least three others.  I had no idea anyone was this close to me.  Note they are all below my cockpit view.  I don't think anyone was trying to 'steal' a kill from me.  They were doing what I was doing :)  Naturally I didn't get the kill :furious

I didn't get checked 6 out of it however.

I was setting up new button positions a few weeks ago and had chk-6 in an unfamiliar spot, kept hitting it by mistake.  I had to apologize several times and heard this complaint more than once, that there were people giving fake chk-6 calls just to steal an easy kill.  I guess it just takes more than someone "stealing" an imaginary kill of a cartoon airplane to PO me.  I thought the idea was lame, but I still had to laugh.  I mean come on.  People take this game too seriously.  I fly by my rules, but I recognize there are plenty of people out there who dont and never will.  I find plenty of other things in this game that I can get mad about.  That one is just so lame its funny.
