Funked, get Terminal Reality's 'Fly'.  You will not find a better sim, although FS2k is pretty good, it does nothing really well, whereas Fly does cockpits, flight modelling and clouds beautifully.  They both model the whole world in airports and navaids.  The scenery is better in FS2k generally speaking, but Fly has 5 satalite scenery areas which are very very nice!  Fly will run twice as fast as FS2k on your computer as well.  There are a couple of HUGE patches at fightsim.com.   One fixes a load of technical stuff and the other one is an optional terrain elevation model, which is supposedly more detailed in areas of mountains and stuff outside of the high detail areas.  Actually, Fly2k is out now, it has the patches built in, get it if you didn't already buy the original.

I should mention that Fly has ATC, while it's not terrific or as good even as the Flight Unlimited ATC, at least it's there and it works.  I believe there was an ATC add-on for Fs98 called Pro Flight or something...supposedly really good, but I never tried it.

The Douglas R4C aircraft for FS2000
is available here:
 http://www.roychaffin.com/rcs-panels.html
Just scroll down to the links (yeah the site sucks)

Scanned 1944 USAAF C-47 Pilot's Training Manual:
 http://www.avsim.com/cgi-bin/library/jump.cgi?ID=1850

This is the best "DC-3" available for FS2000.
IT IS SIMPLY AMAZING.
Do yourself a favour and check it out.

(the sound files are great for AH too !)

Sample pic (yeah this IS what it looks like):

You can get most any airplane for FS2000 by searching www.flightsim.com.

Now if someone would make a decent Pilatus Porter and AN-2, I'd be happy. One of our soaring club members parked an AN-2 outside the club house, and boy did I want to take it for a spin  .

Anooother great plane: a Fokker F50 with an incredible panel and sound. Includes a detailed manual.
 http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds/main/menuchoo.htm

Important: there is a bug, you must delete the “Fokker50. ini” file from
your gauges folder in the FS2000 folder.

The problem with flightsim.com is that 90% of the planes have a very poor flight model.  I don't like being able to do a loop in a 767.

Read down the page of the link he sent they write about the scenery . Believe it's smoothed FS2000 , so that the plane will stand out better for the picture .

I got it downloaded last night , hope it flys as well as it looks

The Thunderbird F18 is pretty nice Igloo
, it has a nice virtual view   thanks , took me a little time to find the one you wrote about .

I was dissapointed on the Cessna 172 though , no virtual cockpit and because I always move the 3D cockpit down couldn't see all that well . Same with the beavers no virtual view   guess AH has spoiled me on that . But still will use them lots I think

Still the little yellow J3 cub was cool . Nicest virtual cockpit and the sounds are too cool when the engine comes back to idle .

The Canadair Regional Jet for British Airways was great too just like you said .

Thanks to you and all for the info , been having fun again working and flying the planes and game .

Eeek, whuzz the fun of constantlly grrabbing without being able to then bounce the enemy? Or follow tedious landing procedures? Me, I Slam Land my 747 in FS2000 ;D.

Barnstorming in a 747 is sorta cool

I just found out that a new version of this game has been developed, so I think I'll buy that.  It looks like FS2000 does not have ATC.
