This is something of what I think fighters want in a fighter town.
No vehicle spawning so flying troops in to capture an airfield is it.
Each side has 3 air bases at 20 miles apart set on identical mountains at 5000ft
Each side is set at minimum 25 miles apart but that can be changed  I set them at 25 miles so there is only 12.5 miles to travel to engage.

It’s just a concept.

Thanks for the advanced intelligence/security leak.  I am currently drawing up mission plans to capture it.

One plan may involve augering 389 flights of Lancs into the ravine to create a bridge of rubble to drive M3s across.

No FT for you!

looks like a fun idea for a map :)

but the fields are 25 miles apart, that's a little too far really, maybe 10 or 15, for a nice fast entry into the fight:aok

One of the old KOTH maps was very similar to that.

There is...Im sure of it...some person reading this bbs...sitting there thinking how long it would take for his entire squad of (insert buffs here) to bomb everything and flatten it for a while.

There IS no way.....at least IMHO to keep those that hate what you do and how you play out of a fighter town.

When the donut map was up....No word of a lie and I cant remember names...but there was a few guys out on the map wondering how many NIKS and Typhies it would take to GUN DOWN the FH's at the BISH and ROOK bases. I was just flying to a rook base minding my own business listening to these 4 or 5 I think it was GRIPE beyond belief about how they hated FT and it was a waste and yadda yadda yadda. Meanwhile they were tryng to take a rook base with NO goon...No help. Just mindless troop porking and trying to shoot the town donw with spits and ponies. No hope of even getting close to capturinig the base. I flew in this area for about an hour while these same guys didn't do anything to "Help" thier effort. Yet they blasted the furballers every time I was near em and how the knights had prolly 20 guys in FT that could help em.

Being the diplomat I am I just spit Dr. Pepper on my desk and let my wife , who knows little about AH listen to em.

Her observation was simple.....

"Honey...what difference does it make to those guys what you do or anyone else for that matter"  "Don't you get points everytime you shoot someone?" I told her yes. She asked "Do you get points for winning the game?" I said yes. The her female side says "Those boys should just stop complaining and play nice and not worry with some map or game , its all about fun I think. And you seem to enjoy yourself most of the time."

Made perfect sense to me.

FT , TT , no FT or TT really makes no difference.

FUN ....16.95 a month (or whatever it costs) for 24 hours a day 7 days a week of mindless gaming.

Well, how high can mountains go?  Can they reach higher than a bomber?  I mean, 40-45,000 feet?  Maybe higher?

Just a nice little valley that is tweaked so no bombers are allowed in or no ord if that is possible?  I know you can take out planes from a field, but what of ord?

And as to your map - that'd be a cool place to fight, but seeing as how once you take off you're already 5k, you can move the bases in closer, it won't be a big deal.

Thanks for al the comments
Very easy to change map
I'll bring those 3 peaks to about 10mi apart
Will create a nice basin to collect the crashed planes:)
Also easy to create a mountain range to 40000ft might put in a couple of box canyons and maybe a pass that only the bravest of bomber pilots would fly through;)

If you all notice the island at top of pic is made for bombers
there are 3 of these islands one for each country set at a height 10000ft
This gives the bombers plenty of alt to start with

Creating this terrain was created with digital terrain modeling software not AH terrain software. What I’m saying is I can create 3D maps very fast and easily took about 2hours to get to this stage from scratch.  Still have the big Island to do.
The hard part is actually creating the terrain in AH’s Terrain Software.

1: I don’t know the software at all
2: From what I have read, it takes a while to build
3: It’s a bit buggy

But I would like to learn how.
Maybe AH might put out a better terrain building software package
But I cannot really criticize the current one because I don’t know how to use it

After all this is actually would I do as a living make maps

Have no troops, no maproom, and indestructable hangars at all FT bases

This got me thinking, and possibly we are doing this the wrong way.  HT has already said we can't have fields with ord, or buff disabled, BUT what if we move the towns to these fields to a place unaccessable?

The FRAC map has fields with towns 1/2 a sector or more away.  Why couldn't we put the towns for FT bases at the edge of the map, surrounded by 50k mountains?  or even put 'em near the FT fields, but surrounded by 50k mountains?  Stick the towns in a valley where you CAN'T fly in and attack the town, with walls that gv's can't drive up.

If they can't get  to the town, they can't capture the field.

At least I think it's a good idea....
