Dianetics. (please note I am not making the following up) Scientologists believe that their quest is to remove the harmful engrams that have been encoded in past lives in order to become a "clear" or "operating Thetan" who is no longer the slave of his reactive mind. Our engram problem is largely the result of Incident 2 which occurred 75 million years ago when the Emperor of the Galactic Federation, Xenu, transported his surplus population to the earth in spacecraft that looked exactly like the DC-8 and placed them in Volcanoes which he then blew up with Atomic bombs. Having created millions of disembodied spirits (Thetans) he captured them with an electronic device and enslaved them with harmful engrams. These engrams manifest themselves in harmful behaviors and conditions like drug-addiction or asthma. Kabbalism, or actually a variety of Kabbalism taught at the Los Angeles Kabbalah Center by Philip Berg. Kabbalah was a mystical offshoot of Judaism with origins in Medieval Spain, it wed numerology to a gnostic method of reading the Torah which assumed that the actual meaning of the text was locked or encoded within it, and that numerology provided the key to finding God's
real message. As one grew more proficient in this decoding, one grew in power, enlightenment and wisdom. In the 19th century many European "new age" (this is the age of Aquarius) magical societies such as the Golden Dawn began incorporating elements of Kabbalah into their own practices. Berg's center incorporates many new age practices into Kabbalism, and in fact his Kabbalism is less Jewish than simply new age gnosticism. Once again, you need the help of the center to reach true enlightenment, and the key to getting that help is once again, lovely, lovely money and for some reason we keep giving money to Madonna.
