USN R4D-5

I've uploaded this C-47 skin to The Skin Department. This a USN R4D-5 (basically the same as a C-47) of VR-1 used on the southern transatlantic route to Africa in 1943. Blue R4Ds were unusual, most were left in the factory standard OD/grey scheme.

One problem with this (and all US C-47 skins) is that the wings are mirrored. There is no patch to hide the lower left and upper right insignia like you get on the A-20G. This leaves me two options. Either leave the insignia off like on the default art, or have them on both wings. I've opted for the latter option for now, but would like to know what you think.

I'd go with both insignia for lack of a better way to do it.  No insignia on the wings just would look right.

Great work as always btw :)

For these older skins there used to be two files – MARKING.bmp and MARKING_a.bmp – that controlled the insignias – the same for the A20 as you know.  I tried a quick experiment and could not get them to work either.  Maybe Skuzzy will shed some light on this issue.

Both or none?  The default skin does not have any insignias on the wings.  Since the skin is going to be half right either way, you might as well be completely different form the default and put both.  It adds a little more interest to this already nice skin.

Yes, I did that experiment too Machnix. I figured they might have coded for the marking file but forgot to add it to the skin. Maybe it got forgotten about when the skin was first done, or the extra file was dropped due to video memory issues at the time. It does look a bit bare without any markings on the wings.

Tough call. I think you made the right choice. Definitely need something on the wings, even if it's mirrored.
