Prillers 190-a8
« on: April 30, 2006, 12:47:42 PM »
I am workin on a 1/48th model of Prillers 190-a8.The one that he flew around D-Day.Im thinkin it was a 190-A8-R12.I have some pictures of it that shows the outer wings armed with the 30mm.I was just wondering if anyone knows if this plane would be equiped with the DF loop on the underside of the plane.Ive seen pictures of other a8s.Seems some have it and some dont.If im rite and his plane was  a R12 which was an all weather intereceptor you would think there is a good chance his plane would have a DF loop.Any info you guys would have to offer would be appreciated.

Thanks

I dont know about the DF loop(although JG26 had them from their first A8s), I put one on when I modeled it.
But it has the long antena under the left wing and a low profile drop fuel tank rack under the center line.
No outer wing guns at all that I can see in the two pictures I have of it.

Thanks Pongo
I guess this will be one of them modeling hit or miss deals.I cant prove its rite but they cant prove its wrong On the cover of JG26 War Diary  they have a artists renditon of Prillers 190 shootin down a b24.In that picture the plane has 30mm in the outer wing.I thought I had seen pictures of the wing that made me belive it had 30mm.Im pagin through my books to see if I can find the picture again. The drop tank rack in one of the pictures I have does make it look like a smaller than standard version.Again damned if I do damned If I dont stituation heheheh. Thanks for the input.

The Dragon 190A8 comes with the markings for his normandy bird. They indicate only 2 20mm.
Ask the same question at http://www.hyperscale.com, you will get some good answers there on the forums.
Good luck.

You were rite only the 2 20mm were used.Between yourself and Corky we pretty much have that nailed as being the armament. Thanks for the help! How is that Dragon kit?Did it go together ok?As for pictures LEDPIG ...yes I have some of the other models I have built lately.I have them posted on our squad forum.Ill see about putting them up in the general forum somewhere so you can see them.

Its a fantastic kit that looks better then the Tamiya one but is harder to build, especially around the cowl.
