I figure it will get locked and the link lost but this was a good link IMO.

A BIG to those troops on the line and to the Medical folks treating them so they can return home to their loved ones.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I hope it stays up.

There are shots of injured soldiers in surgery but above all else those of us who have not served should know what what it means to do so.  This is just one piece of the pie and the reason why I don't let any soldier pay for a meal when in uniform.

I thought it was good when they said that they have a 96% survivability rate if the wounded reach the hospital alive.

Some go on to die later and there are plenty more who leave far less than whole.  The real costs are born by those who spend the rest of their lives paying the price as well as their families.

Either way to have a 96% chance of leaving the hospital alive is better than 95% or 50%.  I'd be curious to conpare the statistics for survivability rates of hospitals during 'nam.  Even more interesting would be seeing the percentage of WIAs actually making it to the hospital in the first place.
