 Judging by all that broken glass on the ground I'd say yes they did break the windows.

Yes Igloo, they did.  If you notice the position of  the valve at an angle  coming off the hydrant,they had no choice, as the hose would not bend around the back of the car once pressurized without kinking the hose.

A field expediant solution to an obviously STUPID person.   I would have loved to have "opened" those windows myself!
