of net security apps and two more XP licenses. (Another $350 gets thrown at project). I bought the X800GTO for the price difference. I think the 7600 is a faster card but at this point $50 means alot. Maybe I should have asked for best card under $150 :) This always happens - I start out on the top shelf at the liquor store and usually wind up with Jim Beam. Hopefully this Powercolor card will be O.K. All items have shipped and I should have a room full of UPS presents before friday.

According to knowledgeable AHII players and system tweakers, the best video card you can get under $200 is probably one based on the nVidia 7600 GT with 6800 GS and X800GTO coming in close 2nd and 3rd. I think (based on reviews and charts) the X800GTO beats a 6800GS.

TC, have you looked at the power requirements for the x1900?  Absolutely outrageous how much juice that card can pull.  You need good equipment if you expect that baby to run reliably.

but SA2, I thought we all had a lil' Tim Allen's Tool Time in us? argh, argh, argh.......:D

to clear up my previous post, I have used both types of manufacturer's older cards, not both the Nvidia 7800/7900 series & Ati X1900 series......
