Ask those who have been before you

The steering wheel is on the wrong side.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

A "Super-Car" needs a windshield so that the hot chicks will want to ride in it and give you good oral conversation while you drive.

That car looks fun! Though.... i think they need to throw in a water proof driving suit and helm so that I can make it my daily driver!

Haha.

My Healey has about 450 HP and weighs around 2200 lbs... It has a 331 chevy and 4 speed muncie... all old tech including drum brakes..   I could easily put in a 6 speed that shifts like butter and add 100 hp.... better tires and brakes but it would not be the same car....

The windshield on the Healey folds down and forward.

I raced the fastest street suzzuki they make and it had some mods.... he could not get around me till I was in third gear at over a hundred but then he walked away.

The atom could not be sold here it looks like with all the safety stuff required... if they made it legal... you can figure it will weigh another 500 lbs.

That would be really fun to roll. Better yet, slam into a tree. You probably wouldnt even feel it.

Read the article linked, Lazs. It's being manufactured in Ashland, OR for stateside customers (first one sold to Jay Leno - of course).

It's here already as a kit. It says Leno (and others) even has some reg'd in Cali (gotta be the hardest place in the U.S. to get it done).

Prolly right though, never make it as a production model. A couple of hundred pounds worth of safety and the power to weight is completely shot.

love it... 8 people create a car that is nearly as fast as a Ferrari Enzo, sell it at a price anyone can afford, and people still find something to moan about :D

Hint... Remove the word "conversation" and replace it with "Pleasure" in my original post.

The Atom in Seattle is street legal. The factory are currently trying to get approval for more to be exported to the States. In the UK lots of us drive them on public roads in the cold and wet (not that we get much choice most of the year). If you ever get the chance to sit in the passenger seat on road or track, grab it with both hands - you'll never forget it.

The car is available as (bhp) 160; 220; 245; 275 (supercharged); and 300 (supercharged) depending on the engine management.

As for crashworthiness, I know of one that took out nine armco uprights at a racetrack following an off at c.70mph and although the frame was a little bent, the driver walked away with a bruised knee. It's a LOT safer than a Caterham or a Radical.

And at a trackday last weekend, nothing overtook me in my 220bhp - not even the three Porsche GT3RSs who shared the track with me. And one guy with a BMW M3CSL got so upset with me overtaking him, that he called the factory monday morning to place an order!
