Wrong again, oh right-wing conservative.  

I don't know about the US, but there are many examples over here of the large, trans-national breweries buying out pub landlords to make them switch to being supplied by their brand, rather than the small, old-fashioned companies. Compared to fifty years ago, you're hard pressed to find a pub that sells 'real' ale. In fact, breweries that would produce this beer are labelled 'specialist', where once before they were very mainstream.

Less choice in my opinion.

The US has greater choice in cereal malt beverages than any time in the last 30 years.

There are more microbreweries selling now than ever before and more varieties than ever before.

We never had your system of "owned" pubs anyway. Our little capitalist bar owners serve what they think they can sell and have a wide choice of suppliers eager to land the account. I think that's a fundamental difference.
