Walked into a Baptist Church with the wifey in Sierra Vista, AZ...on Easter Sunday... myself being a Methodist and my wife had invited me to attend with her and a Family couple....so being in the Holiday Spirit just couldn't understand why I was frond upon when I wished all a Happy Easter as they came in the door.... musta been my tie...or shoes..

And today I still don't get it... can ya help me out here Seagoon?

Ohhh BTW if you ever go fishing with a Mormon, make sure you have TWO Mormons... Otherwise fishin with one he'll drink all yer beer and smoke half of your cigs... if you have 2 Mormons, they keep each other in check... you have all your beer and all your smokes.

FYI a Mormon taught me this.....

Without knowing the specific church (you can PM with the name if you want to) I probably couldn't even give you any plausible leads.

There are a still a few Protestant churches that follow the practice that prevailed from the Reformation to the late 19th century of not observing the church calendar, and therefore they might have been uncomfortable that you were mentioning it. That's very unlikely though, as they make up less than 15% of the overall church population.

Or it might have been they just weren't a very friendly bunch, or it might be that they didn't like your tie. Dunno, I'd need more info to give you any help.

Substitute Baptist for Mormon and I've SEEN it happen.

I used to own a liquor store 5 miles across county line, there were 2 stores that sat on the line.  The county I lived in was dry, church and civic groups fought very hard to keep it that way.

The county judge, 2 baptist preachers and the sheriff were all regular customers. None of them knew I knew who they were.:lol

LOL, no BS, I'm fishing with a Mormon tomorrow morning.  I'll keep an eye on my booze, but I ain't too worried.  He bends on the caffine rule when he's in a pinch, but he steers clear of the alcohol.  He wasn't always a good Mormon though (not until he graduated and wanted to get married), so it's fun to wave the JD bottle under his nose and listen to him wimper at the forbidden goodness.

Possible explaination is........

Easter.... Ishtar?  Festival of?   If you are unaware of who Ishtar is/was you can do a lookup.

Some associate the word Easter with the goddess Ishtar.

The rolling of the fertility eggs?, sex like bunnies?, and some more stuff....

They may NOT be celebrating Easter but rather they may be celebrating Passover.  Which they believe is what the Bible expresses.

If these people are truly right, and they are the ones going to Heaven, I don't think I'll be alone in saying Hell seems like a pretty cool place.
