Ridicolous Freedom 2.4 problem
« on: May 08, 2006, 01:00:43 PM »
Just got the stick brand new Logitech Freedom 2.4
Played for around 6 hours and it was working absolutely fine. Then suddenly everytime I was rolling left (moving handle left) it would apply maximum left rudder. This didn't happen when i rolled right however. I went to windows calibration and I saw the handletwist bar jump like crazy between 80-90% at the slightest left stick movement.

As you can see im only moving it slightly to the left, same thing happens all the way to the left.

When I move it to the right it doesn't effect the rudder/twist

If i dont move the handle and just twist it gives correct inputs both left and right.

What I've tried:
Uninstall stick, unplug, uninstall logitech software
Tried running with just drivers no logitech software, still the same behaviour.
Tried using clear calibration utility. Tried recalibrating (but on windows calibration the same thing happens)
Tried moving the reciever closer/further away, I have no other cordless devices.  I've even tried changing batteries, no effect.
I've got Win XP pro SP2.

This is the strangest hardware problem I've ever had. GG Unlogitech.
The only thing I could do is remove twist inputs but then I'd have no rudder... screw that.

Wish I hadn't busted my sidewinder2.
Anyone had this problem or any similar problem?

I mailed logitech but I expect some stupid reply such as "Try unplugging the joystick and plug it back in again"

Things like that are the reason that in every "recommend joystick" thread on this board you will find statements like "buy what you want but never any logicrap".

Logitech joystiks are famous for being unreliable and prone to breakdown. Made me always wonder why, for I was always very satisfied with other products from logitech.

I actually liked the stick until it suddenly got this weird bug.
Logitech firmware is usually coded by coked out programmers. Some of the mice also have issues which are entirely down to firmware.

This was the only joystick the store had.

I have the cordeles stick.

I got a strange problem with the stick at first.

When the stick goes into power save mode, it will bank the plane and crash it into the ground.

Very nice when I leave the AC on alt-x and go afk for 2 min :(

Then at some point the stick just stoped to work (maybe 1-2 months old) and I got it replaced.

The one I have now, dows not seem to have the same problem.

I am just a bit unsure of the stick, some how it seems, I dont know, makeing me wors in the game :( (blame the joystick lol)

So I hope to find a new one...

So maybe they have bad sticks, and you need to get that replaced?

Also, I have not installed logitech software.

I'd imagine that it's a "bad one" but in that case I don't want it replaced. I want my damn money back! I won't be able to play AH over summer (june july). Getting a replacement will probably take 2-3 weeks at which point my subscription has ran out. Such a totally tubular bummer.
