putting audio on the web.
« on: October 31, 2006, 07:40:26 PM »
okay.  i want to experiment with an audio blog of sorts.

i am at a loss about where to begin this process.

i have downloaded audacity as my recording device.  i have a shotty little mic and
i have no idea what i am doing.

i need to have the following happen.

i need to embed it so that the player will be resident within the browser.

i need to keep this audio file small without losing too much sound clarity.

to start...

calling all sound people.  i need your help.

:D

I use Windows Sound Recorder.

Whatever you use, save it as an Mpeg Layer 3 mono.  Play around with the different quality compressions.  It’s a quality verses size tradeoff.  For mono they range from under 1 to 3 KB per second.

Here’s the code to embed WMP:

Make sure the sound file is in the same folder as the webpage or provide the complete URL.

Cool,

Downloading it now; will try it next time I mess with sound stuff.  I've downloaded at least half a dozen freebie programs but wasn't delighted with any of them.
