If there are going to be frame rate issues can't viewing these 'war furniture' items be made optional? i.e.  if the option is switched off locally you just see a hill, or something a lot simpler.
Here we are, living on top of a molten ball of rock, spinning around at a 1,000mph, orbiting a nuclear fireball and whizzing through space at half-a-million miles per hour. Most of us believe in super-beings which for some reason need to be praised for setting this up. This, apparently, is normal.

GlacierGirl: Wrecks is not an easy thing to do. When a plane crashes, and you exit, it stays there for 10 minutes.  Same goes for vehicles too.  That's a lot of objects the server has to track and then put onto the map to all players.

I do think that having wreck map objects is a lot more feasable and easier to do than  putting in code that downed aircraft remain on the map.  Pooface is right, you take 30-40 planes that crash during an airfield battle, it's a lot of objects to track.

I would also like to see wrecks as objects to be used in the editor, especially SHIPWRECKS along the coast, or burnt out tanks and vehicles.

GG: if we take your idea of having wrecks, and put it as a map object, then yes, it's a brilliant idea. :)

He is refering to making the "wrecks" ground objects...not piling up individual players crashed remains. He just wants an occasional destroyed tank or crashed plane instead of millions of barns & little gray houses.

yeah i didnt mean there would be a wreck for every plane shot down, there would be more planes than grass, and with me flying, there would be millions of the planes ive flown on the ground, i rarely live for more than 5 minutes. The wrecks would just be like a barn, part of the map added by who ever makes the map, so it would have absolutely no effect on framerates as far as I know, but i dont know much about computers. Im glad so many of you support the idea. How does an idea make it off of the forums and into the game? do we need a signed paper or something saying that a certain percentage of the people who fly the game want it added?

I like it, remove 1/2 of the 4 million red barns and turn them into downed bombers, planes, tanks, 1/2 tracks and artillery pieces.

My 2 cents

You can eliminate the Framerate complaints by making it only draw if you're in a GV.. If you are in flight, you simply don't see them regardless.

Just as long as they are there, they could have the visability range of the barns. Because I know if I get on and its really boring that day Id wanna fly 100 feet off the ground untill I found a crash and bail out so I can look at it. I think the barns dissapear at a certain altitude dont they? So they could only be visable at something like 2000 feet and less maybe even 1000.

Lot more poly's in a plane than a barn.
